Under the direction of veteran winemaker Bob Lindquist, Qupé was one of the first to advocate American-made Syrah and other Rhône varietals such as Grenache, Roussanne, and Marsanne. Bob has been a leader in the movement producing world class editions since the early 1980s and continues his quest with the same zeal he started with. His fastidious, open minded nature ensures Qupé wines are the ultimate expression of that varietal from that location year after year.

This is classic cool climate Syrah from an outstanding vintage. Deep and spicy, blue/black fruits, lavender, herbs and black pepper. It is full-bodied yet elegant with balance and structure that will allow it to age well in the cellar. Drink now to 2018 if you want the fruit, or put it down for 10-15 years if you want aged complexity. Score 90 points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
Aromas of black pepper, rosemary and earth carry through to the palate along with deep berry flavors. The tannins are significant and the wine should be put down for a few years before consuming.
A success every ear, this wine is 100% Syrah from the Z Block at Bien Nacido Vineyard, a custom block that was planted just for us. It consistently produces superlative fruit and consequently one of our best Syrahs annually. It is rich and deeply colored with well integrated flavors of blueberries, cola and hints of black pepper. The acidity is in good balance and the palate is plush.
The ideal wine for shellfish. A crisp, freshing white, showing citrus and mineral with that classic peach pit and wet stone character. It is medium bodied, fresh and racy in the mouth with balanced alcohol (12.7%). Score: 90 points Vinous.
The Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard turns out to be a perfect place to grow Viognier. This has the classic floral and peach/apricot aromatics that Viognier is known for along with a mineral component. In the mouth it is rich and creamy but with nice, fresh acidity.
An amazingly dense wine of extraordinary fruit from one of California's oldest Syrah vineyards. This wine is 100% Syrah from the X Block at Bien Nacido Vineyard in the Santa Maria Valley. When the vines got to be about 30 years old they started behaving like older vines... naturally setting smaller crops with small intense berries. That creates wines of density and richness. Score: 94 points - Vinous.
Powerful and heady is a most apt description of this wine. Rich aromas of pineapple, vanilla, honey, honey suckle, apple, pear and mango mix nicely with hard spice notes from extended barrel age. Mouth coating flavors of crisp apple, verbena tea and some citrus notes are found in each mouthful. The rich texture and well structured sugar/acid balance of Roussanne make it a food friendly wine. Score: 92 points - Vinous.
This wine shows more of the mineral and citrus side of Viognier while still exhibiting classic white peach and honeysuckle aromas. This is a crisp, refreshing example of Viognier that works remarkably with many dishes.
